Development of a strategic plan to increase access to health occupations education in Iowa.

Public health and nursing leaders in Iowa identified a need to increase access to health occupations education and avert a projected shortage of qualified faculty. The Iowa Department of Public Health provided a competitive funding opportunity to create a strategic plan to accomplish these goals through the use of e-learning. Federal funding through the US Department of Health and Human Services supported the development of a plan that focuses on the nursing profession. Recommendations of the plan are being implemented at the state and local level.
